"Thinning Out"

My days are usually surrounded by little people. Which I enjoy very much. :) My lack of employment has given me the opportunity to spend a lot of time with all my neices and nephews and I have loved it! On Monday I got to go play with Luke and Juliet while their mom ran a few errands and we had a lot of fun! We mostly threw a big bean bag around and everytime Luke threw it he said "Shake your booty!" and laughed. I'm not sure why he started saying that but he thought he was hilarious. And it was pretty cute. We also read some books from the library and then they made slides out of the couch cushions. I can't slide on them because I'm too big. As Juliet so lovingly reminded me at least 5 times while I was there. She kept looking at my belly and saying, "Your belly is ginormous!" I had to laugh because it is too true!

Here are some pictures we took while we were playing. :) I'm just impressed all 3 of us made it in them!

Continuing with Juliet's observation about my growing size was Allie's comment the other day. Once again I was at Loni's house, surrounded by little people, and Allie looked at me and said, "You look like you have a bowling ball in your tummy. Maybe even two bowling balls!" It's true! I do! I'm now full term at over 37 weeks and even Rob told me yesterday that I felt "round". He was quick to clarify that just my belly felt round and that he thought my face and legs, etc. hadn't gotten any larger during my pregnancy. To be honest, it doesn't bother me at all. I'm well aware that I am 9 months pregnant and I feel round enough that having a 7 year old or a 4 year old comment on it doesn't make me feel bad. Even Rob has been wonderful throughout these last 9 months to steer clear of any potentially hurtful comments.

However, despite all these comments, my doctor told me today that I am thinning out! Of course, she meant that in a totally different way :) But it was nice to hear. And she also told me I lost 1 pound since my visit last week. I'll have to remember to wear the shoes I wore this time if they make me weigh less. In real news, Scarlett and I are still doing well! My blood pressure was normal and her heartbeat was good! I am about 1 cm dialated and my doctor made sure I have a car seat so that when I do deliver I can take the car seat class they offer at the hospital. I didn't know they had those but I suppose I will be taking it! I hope I pass!

Life around here has been pretty fun! Today was the first full day without JD and JD's mom so I went downstairs and played with the babies all day. Jamie was able to take a 2 hour nap and for 2 hours I got to see what it was like to have 3 children ages 3 and under...hm....good method of birth control. :) It was super fun though!

  1. Jolene, you look so beautiful! Bowling ball belly or not, I think you are gorgeous. I'm glad to hear that you and the baby are doing well. And you're so sweet to be taking care of your nieces and nephews...I'm sure everyone there is so grateful to have you nearby!

  2. Thanks for the babysitting :o) Here is a tip for you: Do NOT take a carseat class. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Remember all those neices and nephews you were talking about? Just have a chat with one of their parents and they can tell you how to get a carseat correctly in your car. A whole class on the subject? I would recommend you stay home and eat cookies instead.
